2026 Festival Schedule

Talat Nuea Shrine

October 9–18, 2026
Takua Pa area, Phang Nga

October 9 — Opening Day

Around late morning: Raising of the Go Teng ceremonial lantern pole. Afterward, the deity procession visits surrounding communities.

Around midnight: Ceremony to invite the Kiu Ong Tai Te (Nine Emperor Gods) at Saphan Phra, followed by the ceremony inviting the deities to preside over the Vegetarian Festival.

October 10 — Day 1

Evening: Ceremonies before the deities at the shrine.

October 11 — Day 2

Evening: Ceremonies before the deities at the shrine.

October 12 — Day 3

Evening: Ko Kun ceremony.
Night: Ceremonies before the deities at the shrine.

October 13 — Day 4

Around 9:30 AM: The deity procession leaves the shrine and travels through surrounding local communities.

Night: Ceremonies before the deities at the shrine.

October 14 — Day 5

Around 9:30 AM: The deity procession travels through communities along several local routes. Ma song (spirit mediums) also take part in the procession.

October 15 — Day 6

Around 9:30 AM: Procession of the deities through Takua Pa Old Market.

Evening: Ko Kun ceremony.
Night: Ceremonies before the deities at the shrine.

October 16 — Day 7

Around 9:30 AM: The deity procession travels through communities including the Bang Muang, Nam Khem, and Bang Sak areas. Ma song (spirit mediums) also take part.

Night: Ceremonies before the deities at the shrine.

October 17 — Day 8

Night: Ceremonies before the deities at the shrine, followed by the fire-walking ceremony.

October 18 — Day 9 / Closing Day

Around 9:30 AM: Procession of the deities through Takua Pa Old Market.

Late morning: Ceremony sending off the deity at the shrine.

Evening: Ko Kun ceremony.
Night: Ceremonies before the deities at the shrine.

Later that night, the procession travels through Takua Pa Old Market before the Kiu Ong Tai Te (Nine Emperor Gods) are ceremonially sent away at Saphan Phra. The Go Teng ceremonial lantern pole is then lowered, marking the conclusion of the festival.

Fire-Walking Ceremonies

From October 12–18, at approximately 8:00 PM, fire-walking ceremonies are scheduled in the area in front of the shrine.
