The One Who Heals
Seeking Healing
She came to Thailand from America looking for healing.
Because of a physical abnormality, she had lived with debilitating pain for nearly a decade. She underwent surgery. She devoted herself to Eastern religious healing practices and eventually taught them to others. Her home became filled with “healing” artifacts and objects believed to carry spiritual power.
Then, nearing 40, right here in Phang Nga, she met the God who heals.
She cleared out thousands of dollars’ worth of idols and spiritual objects from her home and chose to follow Jesus.
Her story reminds us of something we see during this festival: people go to extraordinary lengths when they are desperate for healing. This sister in Christ understands that search because she lived it. Now, she is on a mission to help others find the freedom she has found in Jesus.
Read — Mark 5:25–34
The woman in Mark 5 was suffering for twelve years. She looked for help and spent everything she had to be healed.
Then she came to Jesus.
And Jesus didn’t merely see a medical problem. He saw her.
Today, pray for people around us who are sick, hurting or desperate. Pray for those who feel they have tried everything. Pray for Christians in Southern Thailand to meet them with compassion rather than condemnation.
And pray that people searching everywhere for healing would encounter Jesus.
Jesus, meet those who are desperately searching for healing.
