When the Gods Come to Your Street
Koi Cheng Iu Through the Communities
โก้ยเฉ่งอิ๋วThis morning the festival moves out of the shrine and into the neighborhoods. The procession of deities will travel through villages and communities performing Koi Cheng Iu, cleansing and blessing homes along the way.
Families prepare tables outside and wait for the procession to arrive. The deities are carried through the property with the hope they will drive away what is harmful while bringing blessing into the home.
If you were along one of these roads today, you wouldn’t need to go looking for the festival, it would come to you!
Read — Luke 19:1–10
Jesus entered the streets of Jericho, looked up at Zacchaeus and essentially said:
I’m coming to your house today.
And when Jesus entered that home, things changed.
So today, we’re praying street by street and village by village.
Pray that Jesus would become known here not merely as the God of foreigners or someone worshiped inside a church building, but as the Savior who comes near to ordinary people.
Pray for all the families, homes, communities that are visited today. And as we learn the villages today’s procession will pass through, let’s pray for them by name.
Jesus, make Yourself known in the homes and neighborhoods of Southern Thailand.
